Habanos S.A is pleased to announce the Second Edition of the Montecristo Golf Cup to be held in Varadero, Cuba on the 23rd and 24th of April, 2010.
The first Edition was successfully held last May, 2009. The event hosted 72 players from different countries such as France, Italy, Korea, Spain, Japan, Germany, Andorra and Cuba. The tournament opened to amateurs and professionals was honoured with the presence of South African Ernie Els ranked number five in the world as guest of honour. Palmares S.A., the organization in charge of golf in Cuba along with The Esencia Group were of significant part for the success of the tournament.
During the Cup, the attendants had the chance of enjoying the new Montecristo Open range, launched earlier at the Habanos Festival. These Habanos were enjoyed by the spectators of the event, as well as during the cocktail and dinner offered to the players that followed The Montecristo Cup competition.
The event, sponsored by Habanos S.A. was covered by publications such as Golf Monthly, GolfPunk, as well as the networks, amongst those CNN, Reuters and NBC.
The second Edition will be held in April 23rd and 24th, 2010 in Varadero, and on this occasion the golf player Alvaro Quiros from Spain, one of the most outstanding players in the PGA's European Circuit, has been invited to the Montecristo Cup 2010.
The 2010 Montecristo Cup is an individual Pro-Am competition open to anyone with a handicap under 28. It will be played on friday 23rd April. The 2010 Esencia Cup, a corporate challenge, will be played on Saturday 24th April and is a teamplay event. Registration for both events is open from October 2009
